Many of you have been asking us what you can do, following your PRINCE2 Practitioner certification, to further your project management knowledge and demonstrate your ability to successfully run a project from start to finish.

I’m delighted to let you know that APMG has developed a brand new PRINCE2 qualification called PRINCE2 Professional. Africa Value Solutions currently does not offer the PRINCE2 Professional but we are working round the clock to include it in our course catalog in the near future and bring it closer to the East African project management community.

Where Foundation and Practitioner tested your knowledge and understanding of the methodology and how to apply it, PRINCE2 Professional moves outside of the boundaries of the PRINCE2 method and syllabus to include globally recognized project management competencies.

In order to qualify for PRINCE2 Professional you must have passed your Practitioner exam and have experience of managing non-complex projects across the whole lifecycle.  So if you are currently a project manager, project co-ordinator or project team leader for larger projects, this is something you will be interested in! Professional is more practical than PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner, there is no training and you are not required to take an exam. Your experience and ability are assessed through observation, interview and role play at a 2 1/2 day assessment centre.

If you hold the PRINCE2 Professional qualification, you will be showing your employer or prospective employer that not only do you have sound project management knowledge, but you can put it into practice. PRINCE2 is based on universal principles which have been proven in practice across the world. Its success is largely credited to its non-prescriptive principles and PRINCE2 Professional allows you to show how brilliantly you apply them to the projects you run.
